So, Where is the Power?
So, where is the power? That’s a question I am often asked. It’s a good question. Here is a better one: Why is it that many disciples seem to be missing power in their lives and yet others apparently walk in it every day? Why do some see miracles, signs and wonders and move in supernatural power and others don’t? Is God playing favorites or has He just generally turned the switch to “off” in some locations?

Well, we need to understand that the power is connected to your passion for the Lord. You cannot have power if you do not have passion. Passion is the total opposite of being passive; the opposite end of the spectrum from apathetic. Passion arises out of being deeply in love with the Lord and having put Him first in all things - thoughts, words, deeds. Your lifestyle must be pleasing to Him and designed around biblical principles and a godly worldview; chosen and designed with God in mind and thus pleasing to Him. Passion will motivate you to become a true and mature disciple of the Lord Jesus.

Power is linked to passion which is linked to  purpose. If you have a passion for the Lord then you will be making decisions to allow yourself to fulfill His plan and His purpose for your life. Your passion for Jesus means you will be sold out to fulfilling the Great Commission to go into all the world and make more disciples. You will be a “fisher of men” and a soul-winner. You will be on fire and wanting to share Jesus with all who do not know Him in every nation of the world.

So, if you are not excited about seeing the lost saved and many coming into the Kingdom (His purpose) - and you are simply coming to church because it is the right thing to do and gives you comfort and a sense of well-being; if you are not thinking of being equipped and trained … If your love for the Lord goes no further than raising your hands and voice in worship and your passion never translates to telling others about salvation found only in Jesus … then you will never experience His power in your life or see it in the church. Purpose - passion - power!
